Research Unit, University of Oulu
invites applications
for a postdoctoral position in astronomy.
Possible research topics include 2D multi-component structural
decompositions of early-type disc galaxies, as well as kinematic and
stellar population analysis of the structure components of nearby
galaxies based on 3.6
micron Spitzer Space Telescope images and integral-field spectroscopic
observations obtained with MUSE/VLT at European Southern
Observatory (ESO). The candidate is also encouraged to carry out
his/her own research projects.
A succesful candidate should have obtained, by the starting date, a
Ph.D. in astronomy, physics, or equivalent field, in an area
relevant to the above mentioned projects. The position is funded
by the Academy of Finland, and it will be filled for 2 years, with
a possibility of extension to 3 years. The salary is based on the
experience of the applicant: typical salary is 3300-3500 EUR/month. The starting date can be as
early as Jan 1st, 2017.
