Finland is far away in the North, not in the arctic but in the cool temperate climate. In other places on the same altitudes there is an arctic climate.

In the polar climate (arctic zone) the winter is almost eternal, in the temperate climate there is already visible season variation, in the warm temperate climate (the mediterranean area among others) there is no clear winter.

In the map below, almost all of the Northern coniferous forest zone is marked down as subarctic climate, but in general the climate zone in Finland is called cool temperate climate (or snow forest climate).
