Rauduskoivulla (Betula pendula) on Pohjois-Suomessa kesäkuun alkupuoliskolla hiirenkorvaa isommat lehdet.
äri on punertava. Sama väriaine, antosyaani, värjää monien kukkien terälehdet ja
syksyisin eräiden kasvien lehdet punaisiksi. Mistä muuten tunnet, että kuva esittää raudusta eikä hieskoivuia?

Kevät on ollut aika viileä, mutta nyt koivu jo lopettelee kukintaansa Lapissa ja muurain eli hilla ja mustikka
kukkivat Pohjois-Suomessa, ja kohta aloittaa mm.suopursu kukintansa.

The leaves of European white birch (Betula pendula) are in the Northern Finland at the first half of juni
bigger than in buds. The young leaves are reddish coloured by anthocyan - the same colourant
as in the petals of reddish flowers and reddish autumncolors. How do you recognize, that this is
an European white birch and neither pubescent birch nor dwarf birch?

This spring was rather cool, but now the birches in Lapland are closing their flowering
the cloudberry (Rubus chamaemorus) and the bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) are flowering
and marsh tea (Ledum palustre) will soon start flowering...

Nyt on kesä parhaimmillaan! Suokukka (Andromeda poliifolia) kukkii lammen rantamättäällä ja
villapääluikkakin (Trichophorum alpinum) näyttää jo valkoiset kukkasukasensa. Nämä molemmat
suokasvit ovat hyvin yleisiä kaikkialla Pohjois-Suomessa.

Summer is now! Bog rosemary (Andromeda poliifolia) is flowering on the shore of small, swamped pond
and also spike-rush (Trichophorum alpinum) has white flowerbristles. Both of them bog species
are very common everywhere in Northern Finland.
