Maakotka (Aquila chrysaetos) on melko harvinainen Pohjois-Suomen rauhallisten erämaa-alueiden lintu.
Tänä kesänä on pesintä onnistunut aika hyvin ainakin Itä-Lapissa. Kuvassa tyypillinen pesäpaikka,
vanhan männyn latvus, josta näkee kauas metsä- ja suomaisemiin. Erittäin harvinaista on se,
että poikasia on kolme, kuten tässä tapauksessa. Normaalisti niitä on 1-2.

Golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) is a rare bird also in the northern undisturbed wilderness areas.
In this picture You can see a typical terrain to nesting: a crown of old pine (Pinus sylvestris),
from which can see far to the forest- and peatland areas. The nesting was fare well in this summer
especially in the eastern Lapland. Extremely unusual is, that  there are three youngs in the same nest!
Usually the number of golden eagle youngs is 1-2 in one brood.

Siilin (Erinaceus europaeus) pesä, jossa emo ja kaksi poikasta emon päällä. Siili on jo levittäytynyt Oulun pohjoispuolellekin.
