leppä kukkii jo (vappuna 2000). Mutta rantametsissä ei vihreää vielä juurikaan näy.
Kesällä nämä lepikot ovat lähes lehtomaisen reheviä.

The arrival of spring is now a couple of weeks ahead of time - the grey alder (Alnus incana)
is already flowering. But we don't see any new green leaves in the onshore broad-leaved forests.
In summertime these alder forests seem to be like groves.

Kuusen silmut ovat puhkeamassa; ruskeat silmusuomut karisevat ja pehmeät,
vaaleat neulaset ilmestyvät näkyviin. Uudet neulaset ovat kuitenkin varsin hallanarkoja.

The buds of spruce (Picea excelsa) are now opening; the brown budscales are falling down,
and dusky green new needles will appear. New needles are very sensitive to frost.
