Kaamos loppui Suomen pohjoisimmilla alueilla kohta tammikuun puolivälin jälkeen (Nuorgamissa aurinko nousi
horisontin yläpuolelle ensi kerran 18.1.). Kuvassa oululaista metsää, jossa latvustot jo kylpevät auringon säteilyssä.

On the northernmost areas of Finland the sun came up over horizon about just after middle of January
(in Nuorgam 18.1.). In Oulu region (picture!) the crowns of trees are soaking up the sun at the end of January...

Kevätpäiväntasauksen (20.3.) aikoihin oli Oulussa - siis keskellä Suomea! - lunta vielä aika paljon,
vaikka se nyt olikin vauhdilla sulamassa. Viherpeipot, talitiaiset ja mustavarikset kuuluttavat
kevään alkaneen kaupunkiluonnossakin. Joutsenia, töyhtöhyyppiä ja pulmusia on jo nähty Pohjois-Suomessakin!

It was a lot of snow in the course of the vernal equinox (20.3.) in Oulu - in the middle of Finland!
But now the snow is melting in full swing, and great tits, greenfinchs and rooks
announce that a real spring is starting in the town, too! Swans and snow buntings have arrived to Lapland...
