Guide for accepted and rejected applicants

Your admission is conditional until all the reasons for conditional acceptance have been removed by the university. All accepted applicants, both Finnish and international, are required to verify their educational documents they used in the application in order to keep the offered study place.

If the degree you had listed in your online application was completed in

1. Finland, please make sure that the degree information and course list is available in My Studyinfo portal by the educational insitution that awarded the degree
2. Outside Finland, please make sure to verify your educational documents according the instructions given at the following website How to verify your educational documents

If you have applied with your provisional diploma, you must present your official final diploma to the Faculty before you graduate the degree programme you have now been accepted to.

Verification deadlines:

• Bachelor's programmes
• Master's programmes

Confirm your study place as soon as you receive the admission offer but by July 9, 2026, 15:00 / 3pm (GMT +3) at the latest. You will receive an e-mail notification from the Studyinfo portal with instructions on how to electronically confirm your study place.

E-mail notification from Studyinfo portal together with acceptance e-mail from the university together form the acceptance letter you can use, if you are applying for student visa for studies.

Note! You may accept only one study place leading to a higher education degree in Finland during one academic term (from August 1 to December 31 or from January 1 to July 31). Remember to pay the tuition fee by the deadline at Flywire payment platform. You have received an acceptance email and Early Bird reminder email with the link to the Flywire payment platform. You can also order the link from the Admissions Services by sending us an email.

First-year students are only offered an early bird discount in the programs where it is in use. Possible scholarships can be obtained from the second year of study, provided that the required conditions for awarding the scholarship is met. You can read more about the Early Bird discount as well as the tuition fees from the website of the University of Oulu. The link to the website is provided in the end of this section.

Students who are not citizens of the European Union or European Economic Area member states are liable to pay the tuition fee. Failure to pay will result in revoking of the study right. Tuition fee is not applied to the applicants who are exempted from the tuition fees according to the Universities Act 558/2009 §10.

You have received an acceptance email from the University of Oulu with the information of:

1. The amount of the degree programme specific full tuition fee
2. The link to the Flywire payment platform
3. The amount of the possible Early Bird discount of the tuition fee and the last date to pay it. Please note that not all degree programmes offer Early Bird discount from their tuition fees. In addition to your acceptance email, you can also find the tuition fees and Early Bird discount from the univeristy website University of University of Oulu Tuition Fees and Scholarships for International Applicants.

The payment of the full tuition fee is due by July 9, 2026 and the deadline is same for all accepted applicants.

This condition is the same for all accepted tuition fee liable students. You have received the amount of the tuition fee as well as the link to the Flywire payment portal in the acceptance email. The tuition fee must be paid before you are able to enroll for the academic year. Once the tuition fee is paid, the condition related to it is moved from Studyinfo portal and you are able to enroll.

If the degree programme you have been to admitted to has the Early Bird discount, it has also been mentioned in the acceptance email.

• Condition: You must pay the tuition fee

This means any conditionality concerning your language skills, and can vary depending on what document you have used to prove your language skills in the application.

If it is a language test or SAT/ACT test it must be verifiable from the test organiser's electronic service.

If it is a degree, that degree must be verified (both degree certificate and transcript) by the verification deadline.

In these cases, following conditions are used.

• Condition: Your language test result must be verifiable in test organiser´s electronic service
• Condition: Proof of your English language skills must be verified and submitted

This means the educational documents (typically degree certificate and transcript) you have submitted during the application period on the online application as proof of your eligibility must be verified and submitted by the verification deadline. The deadline varies whether you have already graduated before the application period or whether you are graduating in the spring of the application. The correct deadline is stated in the condition.

If the degree you used for applying is from Finland please make sure that your degree information is available in My Studyinfo portal by the degree awarding institution by the deadline given in the condition.

If you are Finnish national and have a degree from outside Finland, please use the verification methods listed at our website.

• Condition: Your educational documents proving your eligibility must be verified and submitted
• Condition: Your final educational documents proving your eligibility must be verified and submitted (this is used if you are about to graduate during the application period in the spring 2026)

This concerns applicants who have applied to our Bachelor's programmes with an IB degree from IB schools. The deadline for verification is stated at the condition.

• Condition: Applicant must order the electronic IB result from IB database to the University of Oulu

This concerns applicants, who have applied to our Bachelor´s programmes with a SAT or ACT test result. We must be able to verify your SAT or ACT test result from the organiser's electronic service by the deadline given in the condition.
