If you have a print-disability and need accessible media, you can contact Oulu University Library to register for Celia’s services. Most books provided by Celia are in Finnish, but books in English are also available. Please note that based on the law, Celia's services are limited only to people with reading disabilities. For instance lack of Finnish or Swedish language skills alone does not entitle one to use Celia's services.

Registering as a Celia customer and using Celia services starts with an introductory interview and user info in the library. Providing Proof of Disability documentation is not necessary. We recommend booking an appointment for registration in advance. Please contact the library by e-mail: kirjasto@oulu.fi

Test reading guide strips and colored overlays in the library

There are reading guide strips and colored overlays on display at the Oulu University Library locations until the end of April.

The reading guide strip is a lightweight plastic strip that allows you to highlight print through a transparent tinted window. It helps maintain your place while reading, blocks distractions and strengthens visual tracking skills. This assist in concentration and focus. Colored overlays reduce the contrast between white paper and black text and can make it easier to focus and understand the text.
