Bird cherry (Prunus padus) is now - in june, before Midsummer - flowering in northern Finland.
But seldom the tree is so full of flowers in the north.

Tuomenkehrääjäkoi (Yponomeuta evonymellus) on tänäkin vuonna löytänyt tiensä pohjosiinkin tuomipuihin.
Kun kukat lakastuvat,ilmestyy puihin harmaa peitto: lehvästöön tulee lukemattomia toukkapesueita tiheän harmaan
verkon suojamaana. Toukat syövät kaikki lehdet, mutta puut yleensä toippuvat tästä riesasta jopa

Tuomenkehrääjäkoi/Ermine moth

Ermine moth (Yponomeuta evonymellus) is often (in meny years) very common also in northern Finland.
In the same time the flowers of bird cherry (Prunus padus) waste away, appear to the trees gray covering: in the foliage
will peopled by myriad larvae of ermine moth covered by gray veils, safety nets. Larvae eat all leaves, but the trees will recover.
Larvae develop in late summer to the small moths (picture below; about 3 x enlarged). Females lay eggs in late summer,
small larvae will overwinter. Mass occurrence will expire sometime, when parasites come up.
