The
aims of the project are:
1. Development
of cartilage and bone
tissue engineering in vitro.
2. Development of cartilage and bone tissue engineering and tissue transplantation
in vivo.
3. Development of guided tissue regeneration.
4. Use of bioabsorbable bone/cartilage fixation
devices.
5. Successful clinical application.
The project
is multidisciplinary in the sense that it involves
scientists in biology and materials science, and clinicians. It involves
both producers and end-users. It involves academia (universities) and
industry. Successful results will lead ultimately to industrial production
and socio-economic benefits.
