Teresa Komu

Teresa got her PhD in cultural anthropology from the University of Oulu with a thesis on the coexistence of reindeer husbandry, extractive industries, and nature-based tourism in northern Fennoscandia. She is specialized in environmental anthropology and in the anthropology of the good. She has done fieldwork mainly in northern Finland. Her current research interests are related to adaptation of reindeer herding to environmental changes, mining as a social and cultural phenomenon, human-environment relations, and the pursuit of the good life in northern rural areas. She is also affiliated with the Arctic Centre's Arctic Anthropology Team.
