This course is designed for PhD researchers who are eager to explore the intersection of artificial intelligence and oncology. Participants will gain an understanding of how AI can be used to address challenges in cancer research and treatment. This course will guide students through the fundamental clinical problems associated with cancer, the preparing and analyzing imaging data, and the application of machine learning (ML) techniques in medical imaging and radiomics.

Education description

Prerequisites:

Participants should understand machine learning fundamentals and have experience with programming (preferably in Python). A basic understanding of medical imaging and oncology is recommended but not required.

Course Format:

Participants will have the opportunity to work with real-world datasets and experiment with AI models for specific cancer research problems.

Assessment and Certification:

Upon successful completion, participants will receive certificate of 1 ECTS. Pass/fail

Teacher:

Ioanna G. Chouvarda is Associate Professor in Medical Informatics and Biomedical Data Analysis at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. Currently, she is working at the Lab of Computing, Medical Informatics and Biomedical-Imaging Technologies, having R&D and educational duties. Her research interests involve biomedical and bioinformatics signal processing, cardiac modelling, sleep modelling, ehealth and telemedicine applications, and medical information management systems . In her research, she has close cooperation with medical clinics and institutes, in Greece and abroad.
