Facilities and equipment
Group study facilities, workstations and quiet reading rooms – we have it all! Library-specific facilities and equipment are listed below.
Customers who are not students or staff can use the coin-operated machine on the 2nd floor of Pegasus Library. The price for prints and copies is 20 cents / page.
It is also possible to print from the open access terminals on the 1st floor of Pegasus Library (20 cents / page).
It is possible to scan articles or other documents to your e-mail with the Canon multifunction devices in every library unit. Scanning is free of charge.
Library customers who are not students or staff can scan to a USB stick or to their own e-mail with the coin-operated multifunction device located on the 2nd floor of the library. The price is 20 cents for activating the multifunction device (regardless of the number of pages scanned).
Microfilm readers are located on the 2nd floor of Pegasus Library, room PK226. Microfilm readers are connected to computers for downloading.
You can reserve a microfilm reader with the booking calendars next to the devices for a maximum of 2 hours at a time. You may save your scanned files to your memory stick or print to the Pegasus Library coin-operated multifunction device (20 cents / page) located on the second floor. The name of the printer is Canon iR-ADV C5030 / 5035 UFR ll.
The group study rooms are located on the second and third floor of the library and are primarily intended for students.
Oamk and University of Oulu students can reserve the group study rooms on the third floor (PK306-PK309) by using Outlook O365 calendars (university students can also make reservations with Cella mobile application). These rooms are available during library opening hours.
The group study room corridor (rooms PK251-PK269) on the second floor of the library is part of the 24/7 campus for University of Oulu students, which means that university students who have acquired 24/7 access can also use these facilities outside the library opening hours (entrance with a personal campus card from the interior street "Väylä" when the library is closed). Oamk students can't reserve these group study rooms, but the rooms are free to use during library opening hours when there are no reservations.

In the library's second and third floor lobby spaces, there are groups of tables suitable for group work. Maisemasali on the third floor of the library is also suitable for group work. Outside the library, in the hallway on the second floor, there are also tables suitable for group work.
The quiet reading rooms are designed for quiet study. Loud conversation, group work and use of mobile phones is not allowed. The new quiet reading room called Lukupesä (PK226) is located in the History collection room on the 2nd floor of the library. See the location of Lukupesä.
There are also 15 single study rooms in the Linguistics and History collection rooms on the 2nd floor of the Pegasus Library. Single study rooms 1, 2 and 3 located in the History collection room are lockable and the key can be borrowed from the library's customer service desk. See the location of the single study rooms.
Classroom workstations (login with University of Oulu user account) are freely available when class is not in session.

Open access terminals for browsing the e-materials of Oamk and University of Oulu are near the 1st floor service desk. You can't use USB flash drives with the terminals. Printing is possible.

OuluREPO workstation is located on the 3rd floor of the library in a space called Topcorner (see the location on map). OuluREPO workstation provides access to University of Oulu theses with restricted access, other University of Oulu publications, and self-archived publications.
Electronic legal deposit materials are available for customer use on the legal deposit workstation in Topcorner on the 3rd floor of the library. See the location of the workstation on map.
For long-term storage of material there are book lockers and lockable book trolleys (check availability in Oula-Finna). These can be borrowed from the library customer service free of charge for three months at a time.
All library material to be kept in the book lockers and trolleys must first be borrowed. For further information about book lockers and lockable book trolleys please contact the customer service desk on the first floor of the library.
The library has a CD and LP disc player with headphones for music listening. They are located in Musacorner on the 3rd floor of the library.
The group study room corridor (rooms PK251-PK269) located on the 2nd floor of the library is part of the 24/7 campus for University of Oulu students. The space is available for the University of Oulu students round the clock. Entrance with a personal campus card from the main passageway "Väylä" when the library is closed. You can get a campus card from the University of Oulu online shop.
Only University of Oulu students can reserve group study rooms in the library's 24/7 corridor. Oamk students can use these group study rooms (during library opening hours) when they are not reserved.
Pegasus Library is not a completely quiet area, but the different spaces in the library have different noise levels. By following the noise level signs in the library, you will find the right working space for your needs at the time.
Medical Library has group study rooms and meeting rooms of different sizes. Their reservations are managed by Tellus Service Point Kontinkangas.
There are three open access terminals (web browser only) and one open access terminal for browsing both the e-materials of Oamk and University of Oulu in the library premises.
OuluREPO workstation provides access to University of Oulu theses with restricted access, other University of Oulu publications, and self-archived publications.
University of Oulu students and staff can use the library also outside the opening hours. Self-service use is possible with a student's 24/7 Campus Card or a staff ID card.
Oamk students and staff can book facilities in the Health and Social Care Library via their email calendar for a maximum of three hours per day. Facilities are available every day of the week from 07:30 to 21:00. When the library is closed, you can access the premises with a separate access card, which you can get from the campus porters. See instructions for reserving study rooms.

There are also tables in the library suitable for group work.
There are five open access terminals for information searching and browsing the e-materials of Oamk in the library. One of the terminals is for browsing the e-materials of both University of Oulu and Oamk.
Oamk students can borrow a laptop from a laptop vendor located in the library. See detailed instructions on the ICT services website: Use of Laptop Vendors.
The classroom is freely available for self-study use when there is no teaching. Access to the classroom is possible with a separate electronic access key that is required for the self-service use of the library.
Storage lockers are located in the library lobby (Paasi 3 entrance). The trays have number locks. Some of the compartments are intended for day use and some are reserved for students working on their thesis for the semester.
A room for reading and quiet work is located near the library's group study rooms.
Oamk and OSAO Kontinkangas unit students and staff can use the Health and Social Care Library also outside the opening hours. The self-service library is available for use every day 7:30-21:00, also on weekends.
Self-service use is possible with a separate electronic access key, which you can get from the campus porters. During self-service hours entry to the library is possible only via door Paasi 3. During self-service hours the library collections, premises and equipment are freely available for use. You can borrow and return items with the self-service machines.
Please note! In the event of misuse, the access area rights can be removed from the user's electronic access key. Staying in the library premises outside the self-service hours causes an alarm, the costs of which are the responsibility of the person causing the alarm.
There are reading places and workstations in the library. One open access terminal for browsing the e-materials of University of Oulu and Oamk.
The Oulainen Learning Centre is open Monday to Friday, 8:00-19:00, closed on weekends. When the staff are not present, you have access with a separate key. Entrance to the learning centre is until 15:30.
