Alumni Day

We welcome all our alumni, staff members and students to the most important alumni event of the year on the 9th of May 2025 at the Linnanmaa campus at Lipasto restaurant.

The programme includes alumni interviews, science talks, music and networking. There is a chance to catch up with the faculty staff members. The event is held at Linnanmaa campus at 3 PM until approximately 6.30 PM. We reserve the right to make changes to the schedule and content.

The event will be hosted by our alum and communications specialist, Anniina Keiskander. Please note that the majority of the program and speeches will be held in Finnish.

• Interview with the 2024 Alum of the Year, bridge designer Pekka Pulkkinen
• Alumni panel: "The Power of Alumni: Entrepreneurship and Branding stories"
  Discussion on entrepreneurship, companies, and brand building. Panelists are our alumni Jenni Ahokas from Beautyko Import Oy and Smuuti Skin, Juha Hannula and Jukka Aalho from Nucu, and the Professor of Brand Marketing, Ph.D. Saila Saraniemi from the University of Oulu Business School.

There is no dress code so you may arrive straight from work to the event.

Arrival to campus and parking

Linnanmaa campus: around the central lobby and restaurant Lipasto. The nearest entrance is 2T, Erkki Koiso-Kanttila katu 1, Linnanmaa campus.

Some parking lots on the Linnanmaa campus have a limited parking time and some are chargeable, but from noon onwards you can park in any marked parking lot (university and Oamk) free of charge. The closest parking options 2T door are in the P1 and P2 parking lots. Please note that if you arrive before noon, parking surveillance is still in effect in the parking lots.

Please note that there are over 350 people arriving at the event. Please note parking spaces may fill out quickly.

If you arrive in Linnanmaa by public transport, the bus stop near Linnanmaa campus' main entrance 2T is called Yliopisto. See the timetables on the website of city of Oulu's public transport.

Practical Information

Upon Arrival

When you arrive at the event, please pick up a sticker for your faculty from the info desk and attach it to your chest for the duration of the event. This way, you'll be able to recognise other alumni from the same faculty. Please note that your degree program may have changed to a different faculty over the years. You can confirm the current faculty of your degree program at the info desk.

Outerwear

There is no coat check service or supervision at the coat racks. Outerwear can be left on the green and orange coat racks at your own risk.

Seating

There is no assigned seating at the event. Seating is available at Restaurant Lipasto as well as upstairs in the lobby area and café. The event can also be followed from upstairs.

Catering

Due to the large number of guests, we have taken gluten-free and vegan diets into account in catering. If you need a detailed list of ingredients, please ask the catering staff directly.

Photography and Social Media

A photographer will be present at the event. Photos may be used in the University of Oulu’s communications and marketing in accordance with good practice.

In addition, content from the event will be shared on the university's social media during the day. You are also encouraged to share your own experiences on Instagram by tagging @UniOulu and using the hashtag #LoistavatAlumnimme. We will share some of these on the UniOulu channel throughout the day.
