Summer Schools
Resilience and Sustainable Development (2024)
The summer school gathered together Bachelor's and Master's students interested in exploring the intersection of resilience and sustainable development. The program consisted of online lectures and workshops in August, followed by a 5-day summer school in Oulu in September. Participants engaged with local challenges related to sustainable development and developed and proposed concrete solutions. The summer school was organized by the University of Oulu, Ruhr University Bochum, and the University of Lodz.

Smart City Concepts in Oulu & Bochum: Solutions to Pressing Urban Challenges (2023)
The summer school was designed for Master's students interested in exploring the future of smart cities and the role of scenario development in scientific methods. In addition to remote workshops, participants from Oulu visited Bochum in September. The program included developing qualitative scenarios for the Smart City initiative in Bochum from Oulu's point of view and concrete action plans for the city based on these scenarios. The summer school was organized by Ruhr University Bochum and the University of Oulu.

Arctic Frontiers Student Forum
The Arctic Frontiers Student Forum is an international, interdisciplinary program for university students interested in Arctic issues. The program aims to increase capacity and network amongst Arctic youth, as the participants get the opportunity to build skills, partake in cross-cultural exchange, and develop their own visions for the future of the region. The program is jointly organised by Arctic Frontiers, Hólar University, and Oulu Business School during the Arctic Frontiers conference week at the turn of January and February. The application for year 2025 is now open and ends on 21 October 2024.
