Tung Phan is an Academy Research Fellow funded by the Research Council of Finland at Centre for Wireless Communication, University of Oulu. He was born and grew up in a small rice-farming village in central Vietnam. He received PhD degree in electrical engineering from Seoul National University of Science and Technology, Korea in 2021. From 2015 to 2018, he was with the School of Engineering and Technology, Vinh University as a Lecturer. Since Sep. 2021, he moved to Finland and has been working as a postdoc research fellow at the Centre of Wireless Communications, University of Oulu.
His primary research interest includes antennas, metasurfaces, and electromagnetic shielding. He is the author/co-author of over 20 journal and conference publications. He has been awarded the Best Paper Award at The IEIE Autumn Annual Conference 2019, the Vietnamese Young Scientists in Korea Award and Best Ph.D. Thesis Award in 2021, IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society Fellowship (APSF) in 2022, and the Jorma Ollila Fellowship (Nokia Foundation) in 2023. He also is a member of IEEE and has served as a reviewer for prestigious journals in the Electrical and Electronics field.
