European Framework CEFR

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is an international standard for describing language ability.

Language learning, teaching and assessment

The European Council developed a six-point framework, the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), that is used in language learning, teaching and assessment. This framework can be used as a self-evaluation tool and it is also used for evaluating the equivalency of courses completed abroad. The CEFR scale is an international standard for describing language ability and includes level A which for beginners, level B which indicates an independent user of the language and C for those who have mastered a language.

The language levels are described in the next section.
