Measurement technology
The unit provides related services to companies, research institutions and other organizations through co-financed projects, as well as individual mandates.
The measurement technology unit operates in two application areas: cleantech and health and wellness.
Cleantech research aims to develop new applications of measurement technology for real-time environmental monitoring, extractive industries, forestry, and the challenges and opportunities generated by renewable bioeconomy. The aim is to develop commercialized measurement solutions with other research institutes, particularly those operating in Kainuu and across Finland. With an extensive network of companies, we can test and demonstrate developed measuring equipment solutions in real industrial sites.
Health and wellness research aims to develop on-line biosensors for human physiological applications, the development and provision of analytics serving the food sector, analytics and bioactivity research on plant value compounds, and processing plant materials. The provision of analysis services in selected application areas is always an important part of the activity alongside research and development.
We provide research and technology development services for measurement technology to enterprises, research institutes and other organisations, including through co-financed projects and as individual mandates.
Approximately 40 highly qualified researchers and measurement engineering and analytics professionals operate in the Measurement Technology Unit.
