If your donation exceeds the tax deductible limit of €850, we ask you to also fill in a deed of donation which we will deliver to you by post.

On 15 June 2020, the University of Oulu launched a fundraising campaign that is eligible for state matched funding. During this campaign, each donated euro can bring in up to €2.5 matched funding for the university. The fundraising will continue until 30 June 2022.

To be eligible for state matched funding, the donation must be given to support the university’s operation in general without any conditions restricting its use. However, an individual donation of at least €10,000 may be allocated to a specific field of education with a deed of donation. The fields of education at the University of Oulu:

• humanities

• education and teacher training

• business and economics

• natural sciences

• medicine

• technology and

• health sciences

• psychology

Donations exceeding €850 are tax-deductible in Finland. We will provide information on tax-deductible donations to the tax authority if we have access the donor's personal data. For this, we need a deed of donation. The document will be sent to you by post (or email, if you prefer).



Any donations totalling €10,000 or over can be allocated to your desired field of education with the deed of donation.

All donors who have submitted their email address receive an electronic newsletter once a month. In the newsletter, we report current topics of the university and the impact of donations. We are also happy to send the newsletter to everyone interested in science topics.

Donors also receive invitations to university events a few times a year.

The University of Oulu money collection permit RA/2020/518. The permit is valid in Finland starting from 8th of May 2020 excluding Åland.

The donations are used directly or via capitalisation as a strategic funding to support the research and education in the University of Oulu.

The University of Oulu allocates all donated funds in a responsible manner.



The donation amount is either used directly or transferred to reserves.

State-matched funds are always added to the basic capital of the University of Oulu. The university only uses the returns of the state-matched funds that are based on donations.

The University of Oulu invests basic capital and receives annual returns from it. The returns are used to support research projects that are important for the university's strategy. Donations allocated on specific fields are used directly on research projects.



The decision on the use of the returns of capital and allocated donations is made by the Rector, authorised by the university's Board of Directors.
