This two-day workshop will give the participants a practical overview on how data visualization can be used both as a research tool and for communicating research objectives and results to audiences such as peers, grant committees and other decision makers, and the public.
The participants will also work on their own data visualization project using either their own data or data provided by the instructor, according to their own preference.

Education description
Upon completion of the course, the student:
- has basic understanding of how human visual perception works and how this should be taken into account when creating visual displays of data
- is familiar with the most common chart and map types, and is able to pick the most suitable type for a variety of use cases
- is able to create clear and compelling data visualizations using Microsoft Excel or other software tools
