Brown Bag seminar: Sustainability transition of hard-to-abate industries: metal manufacturing as an example

Some industries, such as steel and chemical production as well as aviation and shipping, are exceptionally hard to decarbonize due to their high dependence on fossil fuels and physical, technological or market-specific circumstances. These hard-to-abate industries are responsible for a substantial part of the global greenhouse gas emissions and transforming them is crucial to reach a sustainable future. How can these industries, where the reduction of carbon emissions is notoriously hard, transition to carbon neutrality?
