Learn how Virtual Reality application serves as a powerful research tool, utilising immersive, computer-generated environments to study human learning and interaction.

Join us @LeaF to meet Post Doctoral Researcher Sari Pramila-Savukoski and as Assistant Professor Andy Nguyen (Docent in Applied AI), along with his team, as they present their work and showcase hands-on demonstrations.

Explore how Virtual Reality (VR) technology can serve as a powerful research tool for conducting studies and experiments in learning and interaction. VR enables researchers to investigate human behaviour, cognition, and reactions in a controlled and repeatable manner. Its immersive nature enhances participants' sense of presence and engagement, offering valuable insights within customizable and controlled settings, making it ideal for conducting studies and experiments.

Please register here for online or on site participation by 28th of November.

Case: VR Training Application for Healthcare Professionals

The VR simulation case developed by the KulttuuriOsaaja project focus on training healthcare professionals, particularly immigrant nurses and students, in a simulated environment to practice professional vocabulary and communication skills. Scenarios provide a safe space for learning, with real-time feedback enhancing skills development.

Researchers can gain insight on how VR and speech recognition support language learning and professional growth for non-native speakers. The AugmentedCare multidisciplinary team is presently deepening the research work by using AI to analyse participant experiences and behaviour. This approach aims to create personalised, adaptable learning experiences with tailored feedback, improving communication and clinical skills while expanding VR’s applications in healthcare training.

Speaker: Sari Pramila-Savukoski, Post-doctoral researcher in HI programme, with the Health care education and competence (HealthEduCom) Research Group

Case: Kai - Embodied AI Agent in Mixed Reality

Kai is an innovative project that brings artificial intelligence to life through an embodied avatar in a mixed reality environment, specifically designed to promote active learning and shared regulation between humans and AI. By integrating advanced AI technologies with mixed reality platforms, Kai provides users with an interactive and immersive experience, encouraging learners to actively engage with educational content. It facilitates collaboration between the learner and the AI tutor, enabling them to explore topics of interest and regulate their learning processes together. Learn more about Kai at: https://www.letxresearch.com/Kai

Speaker: LET-X Research team led by Asst. Professor Andy Nguyen, within the Learning and Educational Technology (LET) Research Lab .

The hybrid event is open to all! Secure your spot and register here! Warmly welcome.
