We are excited to invite you to the Nowruz celebration at the University of Oulu, a vibrant event marking the arrival of spring and the New Year. Nowruz, meaning “New Day,” is celebrated by millions of people across countries such as Iran, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, parts of the Kurdish regions, and beyond. This ancient tradition symbolizes renewal, unity, and joy.

About Nowruz Traditions

Nowruz is celebrated at the time of the spring equinox, symbolizing renewal, harmony, and hope. Families come together to prepare special meals, set up a Haft-Sin table (representing seven essential elements of life), and share moments of joy through music, poetry, and gifts.

Event Highlights

Reading Hafez Poetry: Dive into the timeless beauty of Persian literature.

Live Music Performance: Experience the rich sounds of traditional and modern music.

Games and Prizes: Fun activities with exciting rewards!

Snacks and Juice: Enjoy complimentary refreshments.

This event is organized by Iranian students at the university and it is open to everyone — staff and students of all nationalities! It is a great opportunity to learn about Nowruz, meet new friends, and experience a heartwarming cultural celebration. Bring your friends and celebrate this joyful tradition with us.

We look forward to seeing you there!
