Kalevala and Finnish Culture Day (open for all!)

In addition to knowledge about the Kalevala epos, you can get info on the language learning opportunities this spring (Finnish and other languages taught at the university including but not limited to Japanese, German, Russian, and French)
Some of the stands will offer fun language learning-related tasks and quizzes to all guests. By completing them, you can earn the International University of Oulu overall patch. Please note that the number of patches is limited.
The event takes place in the main lobby of the Linnanmaa campus in front of the green coat racks and you can join flexibly between 11:00-13:00. Coffee/tea and light snacks will be offered to all visitors.

Learn about the Finnish language learning opportunities this spring and the Kalevala-related research at our University. Participate in the raffle and win the Kalevala book by answering the "what is Finnish culture?" question. The winner will be picked by the event organising team.

Our library staff will walk you through different editions of Kalevala for different audiences. Browse, select the best one for you, and add it to your “to-read” list!
- Suma ry, the guild of Finnish language students
Learn more about Kalevala's roots and origins from our Finnish language students and get info on the upcoming events and activities of the guild;
- ESN, Erasmus Student Exchange network
Stop by to learn what’s next on the ESN’s event calendar and do fun language guessing tasks. The participants at the top of the leaderboard will get small prizes!

Did you know you can also study Japanese, French, German, Russian, and Ukrainian languages and cultures at our University? Meet the language teachers from Languages and Communication and plan your language learning journey! You are warmly welcome to take part in a small language skills quiz, earn your "International University of Oulu" overall patch, and win small prizes.
