Kickstart business idea competition final 2024

In the Kickstart business idea competition, the best business ideas from students of the University of Oulu, Oulu University of Applied Sciences, and OSAO are rewarded. The final event is held on Wednesday, November 27th, starting at 1:00 PM at OSAO's premises (Kotkantie 1, 90250 Oulu, concert hall). The competition culminates in the jury's decision and the announcement of the winners at 4:15 PM.

The business ideas competing in the final are:

• SanaSampo: A game application that builds the Finnish language and culture skills
• Tähtipöly: Provider of artisan hobby horses and training
• VILLY: A package of herbal natural products
• TinyTalks: A mobile application that facilitates baby care
• ReCUP: A sustainable marketing solution for companies that is designed to reach students
• Smartsort: Solving recycling problems
• Hyvinvoinnin polku: An online coaching program for holistic well-being utilizing AI
• BeautyBundles: A new type of cosmetic packaging solution and product model
• Digitalogy: A board game that develops AI skills and knowledge for the whole family

Three teams from each educational organization will pitch their ideas to the jury in five minutes. The judges will provide concise feedback to the finalists and ask questions. They will evaluate the commercial potential, innovativeness, customer orientation, and responsibility of the business ideas. Responsibility has been included in the criteria this fall due to its growing importance in business.

The jury evaluating the ideas includes Eemeli Alanne from the City of Oulu, Mari Viirelä from the Oulu Chamber of Commerce, and Sami Heikkilä from Oulun Osuuspankki. The final prizes are:

• Best business idea: €1,500
• 2nd place: €1,000
• 3rd place: €500

Additionally, awards will be given for the best pitch, the audience's favorite, and the best health and wellness solution of the final by Oyster Incubator.
