Kettunen earned his PhD in genetics from the University of Helsinki in 2010 and holds a position of a docent in the same field. He started as a professor at the University of Oulu in 2018. He leads the systems epidemiology research group together with Mika Ala-Korpela and serves as the Scientific Director of Biocenter Oulu, one of the centres for multidisciplinary research at the University of Oulu. Additionally, Kettunen coordinates the unique Data4Healthcare postdoctoral program, which started this year in Oulu and focuses on the handling and utilization of large health-related data sets.
What sparked Kettunen towards a research career, and what has inspired and continues to inspire him in his work? What does he find most rewarding and most challenging about being a researcher? And what question does he still hope to see answered in his field of research?
You are warmly welcome to join us and hear more about the successful research career and research of Johannes Kettunen! The event will be held in English at Tellus Stage on the Linnanmaa campus on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 12:00 to 13:00. After the interview, the audience will have an opportunity to ask questions from Kettunen. Coffee/tea and light snacks will be provided. Please register for the event at latest on Wed 4th of December, 12 pm, so we can arrange the appropriate amount of catering. This Meet the Top Scientist event is organized by Biocenter Oulu.
If you cannot make it to the Linnanmaa campus, you can also participate via Zoom. If you participate via Zoom, you don’t need to register for the event.
