A diverse panel of experts, including a researcher of racism, a member of the public administration of Oulu, and an NGO representative discuss experiences of racism and discrimination in Oulu. The panel aims to pinpoint what challenges the inclusion of marginalized groups into our society. The panel will be held in English.

This event is organized as a part of the UNIC CityLabs event series. UNIC is an alliance of eight European universities. In the UNIC CityLabs, students, researchers and citizens are empowered to identify the societal challenges of post-industrial cities, co-create solutions to these challenges, and implement the solutions locally.

Panelists include: Boby Mafi, teacher and researcher in Education and Globalisation at the University of Oulu, Jamal Awad, Interpreter and Head of the Oulu Migrant council, Ahed Hussein, Development Manager at Startup Refugees. The discussion will be hosted by graduate student of Education and Globalisation Junko Tanaka.
