6G Test Centre launches website to drive next-gen innovation

The 6G Test Centre, run by the University of Oulu in partnership with VTT, has launched its official website. Part of the NATO DIANA network, the centre focuses on pioneering dual-use 6G technologies for both civilian and defence applications.

The 6G Test Centre provides a specialised environment for developing and testing next-generation wireless technologies. The centre has a comprehensive infrastructure, including 5G and 6G test networks and dedicated laboratories for AI-RAN, O-RAN and space technology research to support companies, researchers and defence organisations. This collaborative ecosystem accelerates innovation across the wireless communications spectrum.

With a strong focus on cyber security and network resilience, the 6G Test Centre ensures that any new solutions will meet the requirements of both civil and defence applications while pushing the boundaries of wireless technology.

The offering extends beyond laboratories into various real-world conditions at locations such as OuluZone, the Callio mining network, the Sodankylä Geophysical Observatory, and the FMI Arctic Space Centre. These real-world environments open up opportunities for serious, rigorous evaluation of technologies in conditions ranging from extreme weather to remote locations.
