Agnico Eagle Finland Oy participated in the University of Oulu´s fundraising campaign with a donation to the field of technology

Agnico Eagle Finland Oy, which operates the Kittilä gold mine, has donated 100 000 euros to the University of Oulu. Donation is allocated to the field of technology.
Arto Maaninen, Rector in cooperation relations at the University of Oulu, received the donation at the University of Oulu on June 1 from HR Director Kaisa Saarijärvi, Agnico Eagle Finland Oy.

The University of Oulu and Agnico Eagle Finland Oy have long-term cooperation in education and research in the mining sector. A concrete example of this is the cooperation with the mining education and research unit, Oulu Mining School, whose task is to strengthen the role of the University of Oulu as an expert in northern natural resources and sustainable development.

"High-level research, education and innovation in the extractive industry is very important to us, and it's great that we have access to top-quality research and development work and versatile expertise here in the north through the University of Oulu," emphasizes HR Director Kaisa Saarijärvi from Agnico Eagle Finland Oy.

"The development of education and research in the mining sector has been our common goal. We appreciate Agnico Eagle's long-term commitment and investment in this. We want to further strengthen our role as an expert in northern natural resources and sustainable development. Cooperation with companies operating in the region plays a key role in this," says Maaninen.

The fundraising campaign ended on June 30, and the state supports the received donations with its matched funding scheme.
