Applying for an extension of studies will become subject to a fee, re-enrolment fee to increase

Following an amendment to the university fee regulation (Government Decree 199/2024, 4 §), universities will start charging a fee of 50 euros for processing applications for the extension of the right to study. Additionally, the re-enrolment fee will increase from the current 35 euros to 50 euros. The re-enrolment fee is charged if a student has lost their right to study due to neglecting the enrolment obligation and is applying to regain student status. These changes aim to harmonize the fee practices between universities and universities of applied sciences.

The changes to the fees will take effect on January 1, 2025, and they will not apply to applications submitted during the fall semester of 2024 (August 1 – December 31, 2024). Please note that if your right to study ends on December 31, 2024, you must apply for an extension by October 31, 2024, at the latest, to avoid an interruption in your study rights.
