Appointment of Emerging projects for a period of 2023 – 2026

The Emerging projects´ program facilitates the linking of best practices and best science to the larger part of the university´s research and opens up new channels to improve the impact of top science.

One 4-year Doctoral researcher positions (with a partial salary funding) is allocated to each project.

Based on the recommendations of the panels Rector approves the following four Emerging research projects for the period of 2023 – 2026 for Biocenter Oulu:

Finnilä Mikko: Role of hypoxia signalling in cartilage health

Huang Jian-An: Label-free single-molecule digital Raman assay for quantification of lowabundance biomarkers (DigiRaman)

Prunskaité-Hyyryläinen Renata: I Uterine 3D morphology and extracellular matrix in establishment and maintenance of pregnancy. II. Search and study of novel genetic and contributing factors critical for male fertility.

Åström Pirjo: Genetic susceptibility and novel molecular mechanisms in viral encephalitis.
