Did you know that there are over 250 green plants on the Linnanmaa campus

Surely you have noticed magnificent green plants along the Väylä, in the lobby of the main building, or in the library.

More than 250 green plants have been placed on the Linnamaa campus and there are about 20 different species in total. The maintenance of green plants is the responsibility of the cleaning service provider ISS Palvelut Oy. Tarja Stenroth has been taking care of the green plants on the Linnamaa campus for about three years now. Green plant maintenance includes watering, sanitation, supports, care cuts, fertilization changing mulches and pots and pest control. It is not allowed to take cuttings from green plants yourself, and if green plants need to be moved, this is only taken care of by ISS Services so that the green plants are not damaged when transplanting.

When maintaining the green plants, Tarja takes cuttings and seeds from green plants, which she roots, grows and takes care of in her own workplace. For this reason, there has been no need to buy new green plants for the Linnamaa campus at all. In addition, Tarja strives to make use of a lot of existing pots and other accessories in her work, so she also takes sustainable development into account in her work.

From the Intiö chapel, which was renovated the autumn before last, 12 pieces of green plants moved to the Linnanmaa campus. The big project in autumn and winter has been to move the green plants from the pots in the Intiö Chapel to the university's own pots.

Plants located indoors and outdoors on campus not only improve air quality, but also create a calm and inspiring atmosphere for students and staff. Thank you Tarja and the entire ISS Services team for ensuring that the green plants are doing well and are a positive part of the overall comfort of the campus.

So, visit at the Väylä and library to admire the monsteras, coffee tree, ficus lyrate, chinese evergreens, clevis, yucca palms and Chinese roses.
