Doctoral and Postdoctoral Researchers positions (Faculty of Technology, Environmental and Chemical Engineering) open in H2FUTURE programme
We are now looking for a Postdoctroral researcher and a Doctoral researcher
for four years (earliest from 1.5.2024 until latest 31.12.2028) to join us in “Hydrogen Future as Climate Change Solution (H2FUTURE)” programme at the University of Oulu (Finland). Apply by 12th of April.
About the profilation
HYDROGEN FUTURE AS A CLIMATE SOLUTION (H2FUTURE) combines the University of Oulu’s research strengths in future H2 production, sustainable metals reduction processes, and hydrogen resistant steel development to a unique, holistic, multidisciplinary research community with ambition in enabling green and sustainable hydrogen transition. H2FUTURE is leveraging research excellence in future energy formation and its applications to mitigate the energy and environmental crisis.
H2FUTURE stands on fundamental research on physics, chemistry, process metallurgy, physical metallurgy and mechanical engineering related to H2FUTURE thematics. Thematics cover but are not limited to energy efficient and climate neutral hydrogen productions, fossil-free metals production and development of steels for hydrogen transition.
H2FUTURE forms a part of our national profiling actions supported by the Academy of Finland and actively interacts with other profile areas of InStream, Genome of Steel and HiDyn within University of Oulu’s research focuses. By recruiting talented researchers from natural sciences and engineering, H2FUTURE is accumulating knowledge to bolster scientific profiles and moreover creating new research expertise to develop the profile at the University of Oulu.
About the Postdoctoral position
The successful candidate is expected to conduct high-level research in the field of membrane separation with focus on hydrogen separation. Research will concentrate on the synthesis and development of hybrid membranes containing photocatalytic part and organic/inorganic separation part. The postdoc will work hand in hand with catalyst development and reactor design and should feel comfortable to work in an interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities of this position include undergraduate/graduate level teaching and supervision of academic theses. The position will be located at Environmental and Chemical Engineering Research Unit at the Faculty of Technology.

About the Doctoral position
The successful candidate is expected to conduct high-level research in the field of catalyst synthesis, immobilization and in-situ characterization. The research includes synthesis of inorganic catalytic materials, their immobilization on different supports/substrates and applications in gas-phase reactions. Spectroscopic in-situ characterization will have a large role in the work. The gas-phase reactions may include CO2 methanation and methanol synthesis.
Application period is open until 12th of April.
