Funding available for testing new business ideas

PoC (Proof-of-Concept) funding aims to execute the first implementation of an invention or idea having commercial potential. This way you can show that the invention/idea works as planned. In the ideal situation, the invention/idea can be commercialized through a startup or by licensing it to a commercial firm.

The funding aims to increase the possibilities of creating innovative student-based businesses. The funding is provided by the University of Oulu together with the City of Oulu.

Who can apply?

• Bachelor/Master level students of the University of Oulu.
• The team may consist of alsoalso consist of others, who are not studying at the University of Oulu.
• You cannot apply if the company is already founded.

How much funding can I apply for?

• Max. 5000 € per project proposal.

When can I apply for funding?

• The application for 2025 is open and can be applied until the available budget is used.
• The funding should be used and reported by 30.11.2025.
