The 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 brought together global experts to discuss the urgent challenges of glacier loss and the path toward the 5th International Polar Year (IPY-5) 2032-2033. Notably, experts participated in this webinar from United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Headquarters in Paris, the United Nations Headquarters in New York City and the Arctic Science Summit Week / 4th International Conference on Arctic Research Planning (ICARP IV) in Boulder, Colorado, highlighting the global collaboration and significance of this event. The webinar was co-organized by the University of the Arctic (UArctic) and Global Health Economics and Sustainability (GHES) and watched live by nearly 20,000 viewers worldwide.

Speakers Paul Arthur Berkman, Susana Hancock, Kamrul Hossain, Zia Madani, Nicholas Parlato, and University of Oulu's Alexandra Middleton, UArctic Vice-Lead of the Science Diplomacy Network, highlighted the importance of integrating scientific research, policy frameworks, and Indigenous Knowledge to develop effective climate adaptation strategies.

Discussions addressed the governance challenges of shrinking ice, transboundary cooperation, and legal complexities, alongside the need for evidence-based policymaking. With glacier loss accelerating, the webinar underscored the necessity of international collaboration to address this crisis. As preparations for IPY-5 2032-2033 continue, the event reinforced the importance of aligning efforts within broader global frameworks, such as the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (2024-2033).
