Juho Kannala started as a Professor in the Extended Human Mind in Multirealities theme within the HI research programme

Juho Kannala has started as a part-time professor in “The extended human mind in multirealities” theme within the Hyrbrid Intelligence research programme.

In his work Kannala will be researching and developing computer vision methods that will enable more immersive and impactful applications of augmented reality technologies. The research is also expected to advance technologies related to the creation of digital twins and autonomous systems.

Besides working in the HI team at the University of Oulu, Kannala is an Associate Professor of Computer Vision in the Department of Computer Science at Aalto University

Kannala has also transformed his research results into a business since he is a co-founder of Spectacular AI, which is a university spin-off company providing solutions based on computer vision, spatial AI and sensor fusion.

Kannala´s research concentrates in the field of computer vision. He has been involved in numerous publications and projects in the field.
