Language policy programme for the University of Oulu 

The University of Oulu has completed its own language policy programme, which clarifies the use of languages at the University of Oulu. The aim of the programme is to improve the accessibility of information and the inclusion of community members. The Board of Directors approved the programme at its meeting on 20 June 2022.

The programme includes recommendations for research, learning and teaching, societal interaction and external communication, governance and decision-making, and internal communication and services. The policy paper is a living document, which will guide the operations for developing language and communication skills of the community members and will be edited based on the community members’ feedback. The final version of the language policy programme and its details will be communicated for the university community in the autumn.

The programme is prepared by the language policy working group in cooperation with community members of the different units. The implementation and follow up of the practices will be coordinated by the Unit for Strategy and Science Policy.
