Matti Muhos started as the new editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Management and Enterprise Development

Matti Muhos, Director of the University of Oulu's Kerttu Saalasti Institute and Professor of Growth Management, Renewing Business, and Digitalization started in February 2024 as the editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Management and Enterprise Development (IJMED). IJMED is an international research journal dedicated to business management and enterprise development enhancing the capabilities and performance of managers and entire organizations.

The international networks, gradually built over the years through research collaboration, research visits, and many international projects lowered Muhos' threshold to take on the challenge. Muhos sees the new task as an opportunity to serve the academic community, deepen his expertise in the field, and gain invaluable experience in managing scientific publishing processes.

"It's a really exciting opportunity to lead a journal with a 20-year history to the next phase. The first issue of the journal was published in 2003, and in recent years the journal has published four issues a year. I am very grateful to IJMED's former editor-in-chief, Professor Zbigniew Pastuszak from Maria Curie-Sklodowska University, and to the editors-in-chief before him for the long-term management of the journal and for the very smooth and well-organized handover process. I'm also happy that he remains on the journal's Advisory Board," says Muhos.

IJMED focuses on e.g. promoting the growth, development, and sustainability of enterprises. It provides a publication channel for high-quality publications, including theoretical and empirical research articles, evidence-based case studies, and research-based practical applications. Welcome topics include, for example:

  • Management processes and practices
  • Growth management and enterprise development
  • Starting up, new venture creation and corporate venturing
  • Fostering the growth and sustainability of businesses
  • Management of high-growth enterprises (gazelles)
  • Capabilities and performance of managers and organizations
  • Planning, organizing, directing, and controlling of resources

The list continues on the journal's website, and new topics can also be suggested.

"Research-based knowledge is self-correcting in nature. IJMED encourages business management professionals, researchers, teachers, and decision-makers to participate in academic debates, disseminate new knowledge, and learn from each other. IJMED offers an interesting channel to forward knowledge focused on management and business development," says Muhos.
