The name of the Faculty of Education is changing

The new name of the Faculty of Education will be the Faculty of Education and Psychology, starting from January 1, 2023. The Board of Directors of the University of Oulu decided on the matter at its meeting on September 27, 2022.

The degree program in psychology started in 2021 and is located in the Faculty of Education. With the name change, psychology as a part of the faculty will be more visible.

The university's board proposes to amend the Ministry of Education and Culture's educational responsibility regulation of universities so that, for the University of Oulu, medical technology is added to the regulation in the fields where the University of Oulu must organize education leading to lower and higher university degrees in the field of technology. The target degree is a two-phase (3+2 years) bachelor's and master's degree in medical technology.

The board approved the university's commitment to the consortium agreement of the InChildHealth research project and the compensation responsibilities contained therein, as well as the risk management plan drawn up for the project. The board authorized the rector of the university to sign the consortium agreement. The research is financed by the EU Commission.
