Nearly 30 percent increase in the number of applicants for the international master’s programmes in business and economics

The first joint application period of the spring 2022 ended on January 19. Altogether 1,284 applicants submitted their applications to the international master’s programmes at the Oulu Business School. The number of applicants increased by 27 percent.

In the first joint application of the spring applicants applied for the international degree programmes of the University of Oulu. The programmes included all six master’s programmes at the Oulu Business School.

A total of 1,284 applications were submitted to the international master’s programmes in Business Analytics, Economics, Finance, Financial and Management Accounting, International Business Management, and Marketing. The number of applicants increased by 27 percent (2021: 1,008 applicants). Altogether 115 study places are available in the international programmes starting in autumn 2022.

As in recent years, International Business Management was the most popular master’s programme at the business school (471 applicants). It was also the fourth most popular programme out of all international degree programmes at the University of Oulu.

Master’s programmes in Marketing (246 applicants) and in Business Analytics (216 applicants) were the next most popular programmes at the business school.

  • Business Analytics*: 216 (2021: 93)
  • Economics: 102 (2021: 93)
  • Finance: 135 (2021: 159)
  • Financial and Management Accounting: 114 (2021: 129)
  • International Business Management: 471 (2021: 369)
  • Marketing: 246 (2021: 165)

Student selections for the international programmes will be published in the beginning of March 2022.

*There are three degree-specific study paths in the Business Analytics master’s programme. One of them is for business students. A total of 567 applicants applied for the three study paths. It was the second most popular programme in the University of Oulu.
