Oulu2026 seeks volunteers for the European Capital of Culture year – sign up!
Volunteers will have many different tasks at events happening in the Oulu2026 area, such as, for example, selling tickets, guiding visitors, or creating content. The skills, preferences, and interests of the volunteers will also be considered in suggested volunteer tasks. Volunteers can contribute their time as much as they are able and willing to offer. Oulu2026 provides volunteers with training, equipment, and insurance coverage. Volunteering offers a unique opportunity to participate in the creation of the Capital of Culture year, take a peek behind the scenes, and experience cultural events before they are open to the public.

The University of Oulu's own culture programme for 2026
The University of Oulu is also involved in creating an unforgettable European Capital of Culture year in 2026. Throughout the year, various events will enliven our university’s campuses and showcase the diverse cultural and scientific experiences of our international community. We aim to increase encounters between our multidisciplinary scientific community and the city's residents, as well as bring culture closer to the everyday life of our whole university community.
You can explore the University of Oulu's own 2026 culture programme here. An event calendar for the programme will be published on the same page in June. During the spring 2025, there will be a call for the University of Oulu’s students and staff to suggest their own events to be included in the university's official culture programme. More information on this will be available soon.
