Personal grants for the year 2022
The Steel and Metal Producers' Fund, which operates under the Technology Industries of Finland Centennial Foundation, has awarded a grant of 24 000 euros to Julius Norrena for continuous casting research in University of Oulu during 2022.
The research effort focuses on the development of an industrially applicable online quality prediction system for continuous casting of steel. In quality prediction, the primary aim is to evaluate the effects of the relevant metallurgical phenomena to the quality of the cast product. The research methodology will consist of phenomenological simulations and machine learning methods that are applicable for quality prediction.
