Planning of the future campus is progressing, University Regulations to be revised
The campus project of the University of Oulu is progressing. In its meeting on February 23, 2023, the university's board of directors authorized Rector Jouko Niinimäki to start a discussion with the city of Oulu about possible location options for the new campus.
Based on the campus vision work, the board chose the scenario of one campus as the main goal. The transition period to the possible new location of the campus can be 25 years. The decision of the board was unanimous.
The rector reports to the board on the progress of negotiations with the city of Oulu, after which the board makes a decision on the next steps. The board and the rector will separately have the necessary discussions with Suomen Yliopistokiinteistöt Oy, in whose rented premises the Linnanmaa and Kontinkangas campuses operate.
The report of the campus vision working group is available on the website of the University of Oulu. The working group has also presented the report to the Oulu city council at the council seminar on February 6, 2023.
The board decided that the University Regulations (johtosääntö) of the University of Oulu will be reviewed and the university community will be widely consulted during the process. The current regulations were approved by the board of the University of Oulu in November 2015, after which board-approved changes were made to it in 2017, 2021 and 2022.
At its meeting, the board approved the selection of the university's degree programs and the number of starting places for 2024.
