Professor Juha-Pekka Junttila appointed to the Finnish Economic Policy Council for the term 2025–2027

The Finnish Economic Policy Council assesses the appropriateness of the goals set for economic policy, their achievement, and the suitability of the chosen methods. Additionally, it evaluates the coordination of different areas of economic policy and their connections to other areas of social policy. Key indicators include economic growth and stability, employment, and the long-term sustainability of public finances. The council also reviews the quality of the forecasting and evaluation methods used in economic policy preparation.
The council publishes an annual report in which it evaluates the government's economic policy direction and the sustainability of public finances.
The independent council is composed of members of the academic community. The members are appointed by the Government based on a proposal by Finnish economics departments and the Academy of Finland.
The new composition of the council for the period 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2027 is:
