The services of the Academic Affairs Service Teams will be transferred to the faculties and Lingua starting from 1 August

The change negotiations concerning Academic Affairs Service Teams have been concluded. The rector has decided on an organizational change, according to which the services and tasks of the Academic Affairs Service Teams will be primarily transferred to the faculties and Centre for Languages and Communication Lingua, starting from August 1, 2024.

For students, the Academic Affairs Service Teams provide assistance, advice, and guidance on all study-related matters, and this decision will not bring any changes to these services. Any potential changes will be communicated on a faculty-specific basis.

The faculties will be responsible for implementing and developing educational support services starting from 1 August. This change aims to enhance the faculties' ability to decide on the organization and resourcing of their administrative work and to provide services tailored to their individual needs. The current processes of support services are functional, and this decision will not result in any significant changes to them.

In the future, services within the faculties will operate under the guidance of the Education Deans and in close collaboration with degree programme coordinators, which means that the change will somewhat affect the duties of the Education Deans. A total of 8 lead specialists, 43 educational designers, and 27 educational assistants will be transferred to the faculties and Lingua. The faculties and Lingua will be responsible for arranging substitutes and may negotiate inter-faculty services and their costs during rush seasons.

The handling of education contracts and matters related to the data protection of education will be transferred to the Shared Service Teams of the Academic Affairs. Additionally, admission services will be centralized from the faculties to the Academic Affairs. A total of 7 people from the Academic Affairs Service Teams will be transferred to the Shared Services to handle admission, data protection, education agreements and other university level tasks.

The Rector decided on 30 April to initiate negotiations in accordance with the Co-operation Act regarding the changes in Academic Affairs Service Teams, faculties, and Lingua. The negotiations took place between 8 and 25 May. The negotiations did not aim for cost savings.
