Support a student – by donating you support students´ internships and mobility
During the internship, students have the opportunity to build networks in the professional world and gain valuable work experience in their field. Internships offer new perspectives on career planning, and in the best cases, the internship can also turn into a student´s future job.
In today's world, international competence is crucial in all fields, especially if the goal is to work in international positions. Last year, about 40 internships were carried out abroad.
Internship grants make it possible for students to undertake internships with desired employers by covering a portion of the internship period's salary costs.
“Internship periods are a natural way to build cooperation between companies and the university in order to secure a skilled workforce”, says Liaison manager Sakari Jussi-Pekka.
The internship grant is currently 1200-2000 euros. The amount of support depends on e.g. destination country and the length of the internship.
Studying abroad with the help of grant
Studying abroad is one of the best ways to acquire international expertise. The University of Oulu offers excellent opportunities to study at high-quality-universities around the world. Studying abroad also enhances language skills and develops intercultural communication skills, which are beneficial in the workforce.
All University of Oulu degree students have the option to go on an exchange and complete part of their studies at a foreign university. The duration of the exchange can be for one semester or a full academic year.
Every University of Oulu student going on an exchange through official exchange programs receives a travel grant according to the specific exchange program. Donations are used to support travel grants, for example for exchanges outside Europe. Last year, 255 University of Oulu degree students went on exchange abroad.
The donations will increase the number of grants awarded by the university and enable more students to undertake internships and student exchanges. Starting next year, the funds raised will be distributed to support students as part of the annual grants distribution.
