Three new members join the University Board of Directors

Professor Terhi Ruuska-Loewald (formerly Tapiainen) works at the University of Oulu in the clinical medicine research group as a professor of paediatrics. Additionally, she holds a clinical side position as chief physician at Oulu University Hospital (OYS).

Professor Marko Huttula is the head of the NANOMO research unit in physics at the University of Oulu. He leads the Strategic Research Council's project "Climate-friendly, Just and Sustainable Hydrogen Transition" (JustH2Transit) and serves as the university's hydrogen profiling leader. Huttula is also involved in the development of doctoral education in the multidisciplinary doctoral programmes I4FUTURE and I4WORLD. He has previously served in the board in 2018–2021.

Postdoctoral Researcher Pauli Väisänen studies the long-term galactic cosmic ray variability caused by solar activity. He has been a member of the university board earlier in 2016-2017. Currently he is a member in the steering group of the national Doctoral Pilot in the Finnish Ministry of Culture and Education and is also representing Oulu in the Union of Research Professionals.

The new members will replace three resigning members, and their term will be for the year 2025. The board has a total of 11 members.

The board is the highest decision-making body at the University of Oulu. It decides on the university's key objectives, strategy, and principles of governance, among other things.
