University Collegium appointed a professor to the Board of Directors and decided on the selection process for external board members for the text term

Professor Terhi Ruuska-Loewald from the Faculty of Medicine has been appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of the University of Oulu for the period 1 January – 31 December 2025. The University Collegium made this decision at its meeting on 12 December 2024. Ruuska-Loewald will replace Johanna Uusimaa, who is leaving the board.

In addition, the University Collegium decided on the selection process for external members of the Board of Directors for the term starting 1 January 2026. The process will be initiated after the Collegium has decided on the number of board members and the duration of their term. The Collegium will appoint a tripartite working group to assist its chair in preparing the selection process and will define the desired expertise profiles based on the university's identified developmental needs. The Collegium will also invite suggestions from the university community for external board member candidates. Final decisions will be made by the Collegium after interviewing the leading candidates.

In a meeting held in November, the Student Council of the Student Union of the University of Oulu selected Juuso Säkkinen as a new deputy member of the University Collegium, replacing Ly Nguyen. Nguyen became a full member following the resignation of Chenhao Song.
