Project description

Indoor air and building health have become important areas of research and development in recent years. This project strengthens the formation of a completely new kind of Center of Expertise in the field – the first in Finland. The aim is to create a modern Center of Expertise for healthy buildings and sustainable development to support research and education in the field of civil engineering. The multidisciplinary Center of Expertise to be developed in the project for all researchers, students and contractors in the field will meet the needs of today and the future extensively, taking into account good indoor air and health, as well as northern conditions throughout the life cycle of buildings. The project opens up new opportunities and brings together parties in the area in an interdisciplinary manner, supporting e.g. the activities of the research units of the University of Oulu and Oulu Universities of Applied Sciences, complementing the research and education of the relaunched civil engineering. Through research projects and services to be developed, the Centre of Expertise also serves the surrounding business life. The project enables the development of the sector both locally and nationally, but also internationally.
