Project description
Eware-6G is a co-innovation project focusing on optimizing energy efficiency across multiple components of the end-to-end data communication pathway, from data centers to applications. This includes improvements in the mobile radio access network, applications, devices, and the efficient integration of edge processing and renewable energy sources. While existing solutions typically focus on isolated areas like applications or radio networks, our approach takes a holistic view of the entire data path to more effectively minimize energy consumption and maximize the use of renewable local energy sources. Together, these efforts help reducing costs and smooth out consumption spikes for the electric grid, enabled by the awareness of energy prices and availability of local renewable sources, overall contributing to the sustainability of communications. A key advantage of this solution is its adaptability to the market, already within current 5G networks as the future scenarios and 6G will give the final leap of opportunities to utilize these solutions as part of future 6G systems. As 6G technology advances, the Eware-6G solution will harness new opportunities to optimize energy use, becoming an integral part of sustainable 6G systems.
